 The Truth About Organic Landscaping

Are you one of the myriad  people who look at organic landscaping as something mysterious or from the "Flower child" era? You can rest clear there is naught mystical concerning using "Mother Nature's" own creations (natural elements), created by the earth and animals, to cultivate your own natural landscape. The advice given in this article will dispel the so called "mysticism" impression of organic growing held by many.

A large number of people have the unauthenticated conception that yards planted minus chemicals were begun by the rebelling "Hippies" and "Flower Children" of the 1960's. The essayist suspects strongly that your ancestors would reveal that belief for the fallacy it is.  The truth is that as more and more media consideration was payed to the "Hippies" and "Flower Children", many heard about organic landscaping for the first time, but it has been around for hundreds of years.

One group of farmers which has accomplished all natural growing for centuries is the Amish farmers. Even in today's modern world, with man made chemical fertilizer, weed killer and pesticides, these amazing farmers continue to employ all natural crop growing with truly phenomenal results. It's its not only the Amish that practice "organic" growing. Many countries and cultures around the world still use millennium old methods of natural growth.

Another myth about natural growing of your landscape is that you will never be able to keep all the pests out of it. People believe that without using chemical based and expensive pesticides, you just can't control insect  infestations. Again it just ain't so. First you can use natural pesticides. Then another excellentl natural way to control insects and other pests is to use their mortal enemy. Birds! But then you ask "How can I attract enough birds?" You create an environment around your yard that is attracts birds.

One of the best ways to draw the birds early on is place a birdhouse or birdhouses which are made especially for the type of birds which frequent your area. Not only do you furnish a nesting area for them but make water and food accessible to them. You can put something as simple as a small container filled with water or even go for something much more sophisticated, like a running fresh water fountain.  A simple bird feeder with mixed seeds can provide food, or you can go for something more complex, to attract more species of birds. Thistle seed will attract many species of birds, such as finches, that other wise would not come. Also, you may want to put out suet, or other "special" foods to attract more birds. Of course, during the summer, try putting out a hummingbird feeder.

Once the birds have been drawn to your yard and realize they can safely drink and live, they will feast on your pest infestation problem in short order.

Frankly, with more research on the internet or a visit to your local nursery, you will become knowledgeable and see the truth about organic landscaping. The real truth is it's a great way to improve your family's health by reducing exposure to chemicals and help "Mother Earth's" health.
